NSA High Performance Computing Center

| June 3, 2014

Fort Meade, Maryland

Although ground has already been broken on the site of the NSA’s new Ft. Meade data center, the expected actual completion of the complex will not be until 2016. Currentbuilding of the High Performance Computing Center-2, an NSA-run facility located on base at Fort Meade, which is home to much of the agency’s existing data center operations still holds some major work to be done before the ribbon cutting ceremony.  Through 2013 and 2014 two installments of over $400 million dollars will be injected in order to keep the build on pace with the completion goal. The center’s mission will be to protect national security networks and providing U.S. authorities with intelligence and warnings about cyber threats. The project is part of the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI), which the White House launched in 2008 to provide a unified approach to securing America’s digital infrastructure.
